London’s biggest celebration of culture, unity and football, The Unity Cup, is returning to the tournament’s original home this May.
Launched in 2002 with a game between Nigeria and Jamaica, the Unity Cup is an international football tournament held in London to celebrate the city’s global diaspora communities. The second edition took place at Charlton Athletic’s ‘The Valley’ in 2004, before the tournament was relaunched in 2025 at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium.
However, this year the Unity Cup is returning to it’s roots with a four-team competition at Charlton’s The Valley – which can hold a whopping 27,111 fans.
Taking part this year are the Nigeria, Jamaica, India and Zimbabwe national teams who will go toe to toe for the Unity Cup champions title.
The first game will take place between Nigeria and Zimbabwe on 26th May, with Jamaica and India going head to head the following day. The winners of each game will play in the final on 30th May as part of a double-header that will feature a third-place play-off earlier in the day.
Charlton’s Vice-Chairman, Paul Elliott CBE MBE, said: “I’m delighted to be supporting such a prestigious tournament with diversity and inclusion really at the heart of its delivery. The participating countries are all so representative of our unique local demographic here in South East London.”
Organisers of the Cup, AfroSport, added: “The Unity Cup is back again, promising to deliver an event unlike any other. Those who attended last year will know that this is more than a football match but a joyous occasion that brings people together over three days in a celebration of culture, rivalry, friendship and respect.”
Tickets are available to pre-register now here, with prices starting at £18.
