‘The Music Is Black Festival’ Brings 8-Month Celebration of Black British Music To East London

It looks like Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be the place to be this year as details of East Bank’s eight-month season of events celebrating Black British music have been unveiled.

Taking place from April to November 2026, ‘The Music Is Black Festival’ will highlight talent, culture and innovation within Black British music through a jam-packed series of events.

Among the programme will be four free-to-attend festival weekends of live music and performances taking place across various venues within the Olympic Park on 13-14 June, 11-12 July, 22-23 August and 12-13 September. Each of the weekends will shine a light on emerging talent in and around east London, providing a platform for up and coming stars from the city.

As well as the festival weekends, The Music Is Black programme will also include additional events with music, exhibitions, talks, filming screenings and club nights taking place throughout the year up until November.

The season of events is inspired by V&A East Museum’s inaugural exhibition, The Music Is Black: A British Story, which officially opens to the public later this month. Programming from the festival will be led by East Bank’s partners V&A East, Sadler’s Wells, UCL, the BBC and London College of Fashion, UAL.

The full programme is yet to be announced so stay tuned for more info!
